The name Gaspé probably derives from a Micmac word meaning “land’s end.”

Kamouraska rocking chairs. Reford Gardens – incredible! Contemplation from Reford Gardens. Reford Gardens interactive exhibit. The exhibits just got better. And better… ! Our second day brought fog. The fog contributed to a Wes Anderson feel of the place. A van-size lighthouse. Luckily the following day brought clear skies. Bike ride at Forillon National Park. We haven’t been able to escape the porcupines. A fantastic camp spot south of Gaspé. A boat trip to Bonaventure Island. An exciting fox sighting on the island! The world’s second biggest Gannet colony, with 116,000 birds! A bit of sensory overload.
The south side of the Gaspé Peninsula is more developed without as many scenic spots, and I therefore didn’t take any pictures. We hightailed it to Prince Edward Island soon after our visit to Bonaventure Island. More on that soon!
